Vintage Vest Rip

So I started knitting the Colinette Vintage Vest. The pattern says to "cast on loosely". I thought I did, but obviously not enough to make nice points for the chevron edging. Sooooo... I tried to stretch it a bit to make it look nicer. FAILURE.
